Through the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF), Sunway Group has donated more than RM15 million towards funding the restoration and upgrading works to improve learning environment of its six adopted schools nationwide. The schools are:
SK Bandar Sunway
Contributed more than RM400,000 for painting of school, entrance and fences, field patching, and construction of the multipurpose facility “Dataran PIBG” at RM150,000.
SMK Bandar Sunway
Rebuilt at a cost of RM3 million in 1995 when school was abandoned by the previous contractor.
Additional contribution of more than RM500,000 for building and painting of fences, repair works and painting of school hall, construction for covered walkway from main school to special school, repair works of ceiling and mural painting.
SJK (C) Chee Wen, Subang
Raised more than RM1.2 million at a fundraising event for building and upgrading works.
Contributed RM3 million towards funding the construction of a two-storey hall which comprises 10 badminton courts and a 646-seat auditorium that also serves as a cultural and arts space.
SMJK (C) Yuk Choy, Perak
Contributed RM1.3 million towards construction of the school’s multi-purpose hall.
SJK (C) Gunung Hijau, Pusing, Perak
Contributed RM1 million towards construction of a multi-purpose hall in 1996.
Contributed RM500,000 towards construction of a new classroom block in 2003
SK Convent Klang
Contributed more than RM1 million for large-scale restoration works.
In 2013, Sunway Group and JCF also contributed RM50,000 to Kuen Cheng Girls’ School to fund the construction of a classroom.
Trust Schools Programme
In line with its commitment to enhance and improve the quality of education, Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) has partnered with the not-for-profit Yayasan AMIR to set up trust schools. This programme was introduced by Yayasan AMIR through a public-private partnership with the support of the Ministry of Education.
SK Bandar Sunway and SMK Bandar Sunway, also the Foundation’s adopted schools, have been selected for the programme. JCF will help finance the purchase of teaching and learning tools; allowance for appointed advisory teachers and middle leaders; and coaching amongst others.
