1.  What is the Car Park Guiding System?

The Car Park Guiding System is a parking system which has a red/green light to guide motorists to the nearest available parking bay. The car park is also equipped with traffic count signage to indicate directions where there are available parking bays.

2.  Describe the technology behind this system?

The system uses infrared and ultrasonic detectors to detect cars. The sensors are located at every parking bay in the upper and basement car parks to detect if the bay is available or not. The LED lights are installed along the driveway in front of each parking bay. These lights are visible to motorist from a far distance and give indication if the parking bay is available. When the parking bay is occupied, the light will turn RED and when the parking bay is available, the light turns GREEN.

4.  Is the whole car park equipped with this system?

Currently, not all the bays have individual sensors. The bigger car parks above (CP2 – CP6) and below (B1 – B3) the retail floors are equipped with individual detectors however the car parks linking to the retail floors (LG2 to F) are equipped with an overall bay counting signage as these car parks are much smaller in space. However, the WHOLE CARPARK will be PROGRESSIVELY installed with individual sensors.

5.  What are the benefits of this system?

This system helps drivers to save time in locating available parking bays, especially during weekends and when there are big events in the shopping mall. By reducing the time spent on finding available parking bays, motorists will have more time to shop and enjoy their trip to Sunway Pyramid now that the mall has expanded to four million square feet of built-up area. This also increased the friendliness of the car park.

7.  What are the security measures in the car park?

With a bigger car park, the mall has double-up its efforts to boost up security to ensure that patrons are safe.
