Institution of Engineers Malaysia Honours Sunway with Two Prestigious RecognitionsApril 18, 2015
Sunway Berhad, represented by its property and construction arms, collectively clinched three awards at the MITI Industry Excellence Awards (AKI) including the Prime Minister’s Award, the highest accolade at the awards ceremony.
Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah received the Prime Minister’s Award which carries a cash prize of RM 500,000 from the Prime Minister Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak. The PM’s Award is awarded to the most outstanding company chosen from a selection of winners across nine categories in the manufacturing and services sector each year.
Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah will donate the sum in entirety to the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, which will in turn be disbursed as scholarships to deserving young Malaysians.
Sarena Cheah, Managing Director of Property Development Division for Malaysia and Singapore, received its award on behalf of Sunway Property for winner of the Open Category Services Sector Award
Mr. Kwan Foh Kwai, Senior Managing Director of Sunway Construction, received its award on behalf of Sunway Construction for the Category 3 Services Sector Award.
The BRT-Sunway line, the first public-private partnership between Prasarana and Sunway, will ply 7 stations around Sunway Resort City, connecting Bandar Sunway and Subang commuters with the Kelana Jaya LRT Extension Line at USJ6 and with the KTMB Setia Jaya station near the Federal highway.
The elevated electronic BRT-Suwnay Line is expected for completion by second quarter of 2015. Set on an elevated 5.4km long track, the public transport project which first began in March 2013, will be the pilot project for future BRT projects.
