Elderly Guests Celebrate the Year-End With Sunway and Care United

300 guests from 17 homes for the elderly will be having a delightful time at the second Sunway-Care United Golden Years Celebration 2016 where they will be treated to a sumptuous lunch and heartfelt performances.

Cultural Dance Performances and a Sunway-Care United Idol karaoke competition will enthral the senior citizens. The competition, held for the second time, is a highly-anticipated activity and will see stellar performances delivered by the old folks, performing songs in Chinese, Malay, and English for the delighted audience. Volunteers from various corporate entities will spend time with their senior friends, who will be thrilled to chat and share moments of laughter over lunch.

Gracing the charitable event will be Guest of Honour, YB. Dato Sri S.A. Vigneswaran, President of the Senate, Parliament of Malaysia, YB Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Mohamed, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, YB Datuk Dr Hj Abdul Latiff bin Ahmad, Member of Parliament for Mersing Constituency and Chairman of the government-owned housing development company Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad, Yang Terhormat Encik Sharul Akmal bin Johari, Executive Manager of Yayasan Pasir Gudang, YBhg Puan Sri Dr Susan Cheah, EXCO member of Sunway Group; Mr Gerard Soosay, CEO of Sunway Iskandar and Ms Florence Goh, President of Care United Johor Bahru.

This event will also see the distribution of goodie bags and ang pows to the old folks who will be sure to respond with a broad smile in deep appreciation. The goodie bags include a pillow, an environmentally-friendly bag, toiletries, a face towel, a hand fan and a cap.

Sunway Group is participating in this event as part of its “Light of Hope” programme, which serves to enrich the lives of its community during festive seasons. “Light of Hope” is part of Sunway’s corporate responsibility initiatives under the C.A.R.E. projects, which stands for Community Aid, Reach-Out and Enrichment. Over the years, Sunway Group has celebrated major festive seasons with more than 80,000 people from all walks of life across Malaysia.

The 17 homes invited are House of Joy, Johor Cheshire Home, Kampung Skudai Kiri, Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Lexin, Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Sri Orkid, Persatuan Orang-Orang Cacat Daerah JB, Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Nur Ehsan, Pusat Jagaan Warga Tua Yeo JB, Pusat Kebajikan Elijah Misi JB, Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari Johor, Pusat Kebajikan Puspanesam, Rumah Orang-Orang Tua Sukarela Pandan, Rumah Orang-orang Tua Ulu Tiram, Rumah Sejahtera Senai, Sherun Old Folks’ Home & Handicapped Centre, UMNO JB (Kebajikan Parliament JB) – Kampung Melayu Majidee and Sunrise Care Centre Sdn Bhd.
