Category A & B
(for Malaysian Students only)
Eligibility
This competition is open to all Form 1 to Form 5 Malaysian students from all schools except those using an international syllabus.
Age group for the contesting categories are:
- Category A : Form 1-3
- Category B : Form 4-5
Online Submission
Please note that it is required to only use Google Chrome for Registration & Online Submission.
Step 1 : Register an account
- Log on to www.sunway.com.my/essay (only with Google Chrome).
- Click on “Submission (Students)”.
- Click on “Sign Up” or “Login” button.
- Fill in the form with your personal details, including Full Name (as per MyKad), NRIC/ Passport No., E-mail, Contact/Mobile Number, Form, State, Town/City, School Name, Parent’s/Guardian’s Name, Mobile Number and E-mail.
- Check the box indicating you have read our terms and conditions, received parental consent to join the essay competition, and understood the Personal Data Protection Notice.
- Click on “Login”.
Step 2 : Submit Essay
- Click on “Add New”.
- Type your essay in the space provided and press “Submit” button once done.
- Fill in the survey form. And then press “Submit” button once done.
Step 1 : Update your account profile
- Log on to www.sunway.com.my/essay (only with Google Chrome)
- Login with your existing registered Email and Password.
- Do update your particular details at the Student Profile:
- Your year of study (ie: Form 1, Form 2, etc) to ensure you are in the right category.
- Who encouraged you to participate in this competition.
Step 2 : Submit Essay
- Click on “Add New”.
- Type your essay in the space provided and press “Submit” button once done.
- Fill in the survey form. And then press “Submit” button once done.
03 April 2023 – 22 May 2023, 1.00pm.
22 May 2023, Monday, 1.00pm. Essays received after the deadline will be automatically deemed ineligible.
You can submit only one (1) best essay based on your MyKad number.
No. All entries must be submitted online through the official portal. No written hardcopy or email submissions will be accepted.
Category A : 200 words
Category B : 500 words
Category A : 350 words
Category B : 650 words

Winning entrants are expected to show originality and flair, link to academic standards and competent use of English as a written language.
This includes a good standard of spelling, grammar and punctuation.
No, participants are not entitled to a certificate of participation.
Only the Top 100 finalists and winners will be receiving award certificate for this competition.
On-Site Finals
The final stage where the Top 100 finalists are required to compete at nominated location(s), as specified by Sunway. The on-site finals will be a ONE hour written exam.
Go to www.sunway.com.my/essay on 27 June 2023, 12pm to check if you are one of the finalists.
Finalists must participate in the on-site finals to stand a chance to win the prizes. Those who do not participate will be automatically be disqualified.
Yes, all finalists are required to physically attend the on-site finals. Failing to do so, the student will be disqualified.
The Organisers will make every reasonable effort to notify the finalists via e-mail to participate in an on-site finals competition at nominated location(s), as specified by Sunway by 26 June 2023, Monday, 8.00pm.

No. Only finalists who attended the On-Site finals will receive a certificate of participation.
Prize-Giving Ceremony
The date of the Prize-Giving Ceremony will be released by 21 August 2023, Monday.

Total Top 26 Winners (13 Winners from Category A, 13 Winners from Category B)
Category A – Top 3 Winners (1st/ 2nd/ 3rd Prize) and 10 Consolation Winners.
Category B – Top 3 Winners (1st/ 2nd/ 3rd Prize) and 10 Consolation Winners.
Go to www.sunway.com.my/essay on 21 August 2023, Monday, to check if you are one of the winners.
The Organisers will make every reasonable effort to notify the Top 26 winners via e-mail to attend the prize-giving ceremony held at Sunway University, Selangor by 21 August 2023, Monday.

1st Prize: RM5,000 cash, Sunway Bursary valued at RM16,000*, Award Certificate, Trophy and 10,000 Sunway points.
2nd Prize: RM3,000 cash, Sunway Bursary valued at RM12,000*, Award Certificate, Trophy and 10,000 Sunway points.
3rd Prize: RM1,000 cash, Sunway Bursary valued at RM8,000*, Award Certificate, Trophy and 10,000 Sunway points
Consolation Prizes: RM500 cash, Sunway Bursary valued at RM5,000*, Award Certificate, Medal and 10,000 Sunway points.
