At Sunway, we continuously strive to provide our people support in various areas, including enhancement of work environment and overall personal well-being and development. Since 2013, we introduced a host of new initiatives to better attract, retain and develop women in the workplace. They include:

Improved Infrastructure


In 2013, a dedicated mother’s room and designated car parking bays for pregnant women were established in Menara Sunway, headquarters of Sunway Group. Later in 2014, the initiative was expanded to include Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway University and Sunway Medical Centre.

Workplace Flexibility and Childcare Support


Apart from improved HR policies to include flexible working arrangements and extended maternity leave, Sunway also provides high quality, affordable childcare as part of its commitment to support working parents.

This was achieved through the establishment of a kindergarten and childcare centre via a partnership with R.E.A.L Kids; and with the academic programme commencement in January 2014, Sunway has been offering academic fee discount to the employees.

Celebrating Women in the Workforce


In 2014, Sunway organised a Mother’s Day Charity Sale in collaboration with Generating Opportunities for the Learning Disabled (GOLD) Centre. The 4-Day charity sale raised over RM8,000 for the children of GOLD Centre.

In 2013, the first Networking Event for Women was held, followed by a Senior Women Leaders Network Event in 2014.

Both events included a knowledge sharing session as well as a round-table discussion, focusing on how Sunway can better support females in moving up the corporate ladder.

In recognition of these efforts, Sunway received a Special Mention in the MaSRA (ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards) 2013 Award.
