Kiwanis Malaysia Kicks off Its Midterm Conference 2009 with the 11th Annual Children’s Party by Hosting 500 Children and Their Minders to a Party at the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

500 children & Minders and a further 100 Kiwanians from 8 Divisions came to Malaysia’s Premier Theme Park – the Sunway Lagoon Resort on Saturday the 18th April to mark the start of the Districts Midterm Conference.

Kiwanis Malaysia hosts this annual party for children from orphanages and homes from all over Peninsula Malaysia and this year we are pleased to have clubs participating from as far as Butterworth and Muar. This extra effort required is commendable as it involves getting the children to rise as early as 3am so that they can be in time for the event, said the organizing chairman, Jenny Chua.

The Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel and SPA and the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park have jointly sponsored these children for the 11th year.

The Children tucked in to a sumptuous lunch and then headed off to the theme park where they spent the rest of the day enjoying the various rides and entertainment the Park had to offer.

Earlier, the children were entertained by clowns, magicians and members of the Key Clubs and Circle K Clubs (Kiwanis Youth wing) before the official launch of the party by the guest of honor the YB Hannah Yeoh ADUN Subang Jaya. She congratulated Kiwanis Malaysia for bringing these children who normally would never have a chance to enjoy the thrills of being in Malaysia’s premier Theme Park. He also made special mention in her speech and thanked the Sunway Resort Hotel and SPA and the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park for their contributions to Kiwanis in promoting altruistic service. Puan Sri Datin Seri Dr. Susan Cheah said in her speech that she always enjoyed attending the Kiwanis Annual Children’s Party as it was one of the biggest events staged annually at the Theme Park that focused on underprivileged children.

District Governor of Kiwanis Malaysia, Fred Lah was very happy at the fantastic turnout by the clubs in the District. “Our theme for this year is “Growth With Service” and the members have lived by this motto” said Governor Fred. Kiwanis Is expanding very fast he explained with the formation of 4 new clubs in the first 6 months of the year.

The Management of the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park were pleased that this year the children could enjoy the recently upgraded facilities of the Theme Park with their many new rides and features.
