MERDEKA JOY FOR 200 RURAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

Two hundred and eighty seven (287) children from rural schools in Penang and Perak recently had a jolly good time when they were treated to a day at the Lost World of Tambun in conjunction with Merdeka.

The children, aged between five (5) and twelve (12) had a very exciting time, trying out all the rides in the Lost World of Tambun, such as the Dragon Flight, Stormrider, Giddy Galleon, Perak Parade and Adventure Express besides getting to know the 4000 animals consisting of 55 species at Lost World Petting Zoo. The highlight of the day for the children was the water park and the tiger valley.

The memorable and educational day was organized by the Kelab Sukan Sunway (Sunway Sports Club). Two hundred members, consisting of staff from Menara Sunway, Sunway City Ipoh, Sunway Tunas Penang, Sunway Carnival Penang, Sunway Hotel Penang and students from SUN-U Ipoh had joined in for the day of fun.

Bernard Paul Netto, KSS President, said that it was the second year the special event is organised for the underprivileged children in the northern region.

The students were treated to a whole day of tender loving care, scrumptious food and entertainment from 9am to 4pm. Besides watching over the students and participating in the fun, the cheerful volunteers also treated the children as their own. Each child went home satiated after the fun activities, with new school bags and stationery set.

“The objective of organising this event is to reach out to the children outside of Klang Valley as we usually have our community events in Klang Valley. Our intention is to include the children in the Northern region in our CR programme as Sunway developments in Ipoh and Penang and we wanted to ensure that the children here are not left out,” he said.
