Since its inception more than 40 years ago, Sunway has made conscientious efforts to support many charitable bodies in the nation particularly those that seek to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. For example, Sunway has donated to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, Pusat Kreatif Kanak Kanak Tuanku Bainunm, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Melayu Pulau Pinang di Wilayah Persekatuan & Selangor, Persatuan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai (Hulu Langat).
Sunway also makes cash or in-kind contribution to support various non-profit community-driven bodies; recent examples include the Peninsular Malaysia Fire and Rescue Services Workers Union (Badan Kesatuan Pekerja Bomba dan Penyelamat, Semenanjung Malaysia), the National Union of Journalists, the Malaysian Association Help for the Poor Terminally Ill (Pertubuhan Mambantu Pesakit Parah Malaysia or PPPM), Malaysia Nature Society and so forth.
In 2011, Sunway Group and the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation donated a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) to the Sisters of the Infant Jesus Convent (IJC), a home for retired nuns in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, to help transport Convent residents and their caregivers to hospitals for treatment. IJC Cheras plays a significant role in caring for the less privileged, including neglected children in their convent orphanages.
