Sunway Group aligns its businesses with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of ‘No Poverty’ and ‘Zero Hunger’ through Sunway Food Programme. Its three initiatives that include #ZEROFOODWASTAGE, Rise Against Hunger meal packing, and Share Because You Care grocery drive were scaled up to create better impact for the society.
Sunway Education Group celebrated 30 years of academic excellence since it was founded in 1987. Sunway Malls celebrated 20 magical years since the opening of the iconic Egyptian-themed Sunway Pyramid in 1997.
Sunway will be launching projects worth RM5 billion in GDV in Penang over the next 10 years, Sunway Valley City Integrated Development. RM2 billion allocated for long-term investment projects. The mixed development project has four phases featuring shop offices, serviced apartments, a shopping mall, a Sunway College branch campus, an office tower, and a medical centre.
Sunway Hotel Hanoi supports handicraft project to help local Vietnamese youths earn a regular income. Kelab Sosial Sunway made a CSR trip to a Hanoi-based charity home. Sunway Hotel Hanoi signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Quynh Hoa Charity Vocational Training Centre in Vietnam.
Sunway Medical Centre worked alongside the Ministry of Health, local city councils, shopping malls, pharmaceutical companies, and non- profit organisations such as the National Kidney Foundation and Limbs for Life Prostheses Centre throughout the campaign.
Sunway Group and iM4U fm’s collaboration for the Fabrik Kasih welfare programme hits two-year mark. Event is organised annually in conjunction with Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilftri and benefitted nine homes across three different locations, Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Penang. Among the designers involved include Fuzana Mokhtaza, Tengku Syahmi, and Zakwan Anuar.
Sunway University and South Korean universities to collaborate on entrepreneurial development. Sunway University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Leading University for Start-Up Business Association (LUSBA). The MoU allows participating universities to tap into a two-way flow of resources such as joint-research in the field of entrepreneurship.
Sunway Education Group pledges RM1 million in scholarship to Teach For Malaysia Students. The scholarship will provide students the opportunity to pursue tertiary education at Sunway College and Sunway University. The scholarship includes full tuition fees, all general feels, and the course of the students’ studies throughout their education.
Sunway Group launches Sunway Innovation Labs to encourage development of the start-up ecosystem in Malaysia. Sunway Innovation Labs is a not-for-profit partnership involving Sunway University, Sunway Group and Sunway Ventures.
Sunway REIT launches community sustainability campaign in the quest for a smoke-free environment. Sandakan-based graffiti artist Kenji Chan’s art was one of three used to launch the campaign. Chan’s art is located next to the Sephora retail outlet at Sunway Pyramid.
