Leading property-construction conglomerate, the Sunway Group, was recognised for its superior performance and outstanding achievements in healthcare and property development at the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards Gala held in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Sunway Medical Centre clinched the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Growth Excellence Leadership in Hospital Services award while Sunway Property received the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Property Development Company of the Year award. In 2014, Sunway Berhad had received “Malaysia’s Builder of the Year 2014” by Frost & Sullivan in the Best of the Best category.

Currently in its 12th year, the prestigious annual Frost & Sullivan Excellence Awards is awarded by the global growth partnership firm to organisations and individuals in recognition of their exemplary achievements in engendering world-class performances within their industries.

Present to receive their awards for visionary growth, innovation and leadership in their respective industries of property development and healthcare were Mr. Ang Kee Ping, Sunway Berhad executive director of Central Region, Property Development division and Mr. Lau Beng Long, Sunway Group Healthcare Services managing director.

“This award is meaningful to us as it represents a recognition of our unreserved endeavour to build communities. As a Master Community Developer, we co-invest with our communities, providing the best liveable experiences that we could offer bringing forward lives that our community aspires. We always thrive to deliver quality products and offerings to our communities through our unique proposition of Build-Own-Operate business model,” said Ang Kee Ping, executive director, Central Region, Property Development Division, Sunway Berhad.

Frost & Sullivan recognised Sunway’s property development division for securing strong revenue performance following its RM1.2 billion in sales achieved last year. According to the global consulting firm, Sunway stood out from its competitors for its justifiable focus on customer ownership experience – striking a balance between business performance and customer experience. This is proven through a Public-Private Partnership between Sunway Berhad and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to construct Malaysia’s first dedicated and elevated Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT-Sunway Line), to enhance mobility amongst the community and reduce traffic congestion in the Klang Valley.

In 2015, Sunway had also constructed an elevated and covered Canopy Walk connecting various components within Sunway City providing the community with enhanced convenience. Sunway also undertook the multiple road expansion projects in front of Sunway Pyramid leading up to the Kewajipan Roundabout, and the link from Sunway South Quay to KESAS highway among others allowing improved connectivity and accessibility.

Sunway Property has established a strong track-record as a master community developer and continues to pursue sustainable and participatory growth alongside the communities they serve in its integrated developments and townships of Sunway City, Sunway City Ipoh and Sunway Iskandar spanning some 5,000 acres across Malaysia. Currently, Sunway’s total unbilled sales stands at RM 2.3 billion with plans to launch properties worth RM1.6 billion in 2016.

“Sunway Medical Centre has completely outperformed its peers in the hospital industry, with a remarkable double digit growth rate, which is above the hospital industry’s growth rate. The company’s commitment to delivering quality, efficient healthcare services is seen in its focus on investing in the latest technological advancements as well as developing a 5-year digital transformation plan.

Its strong growth plans over the next 5 years and good leadership is expected to establish Sunway Medical Centre as a strong competitor in the market and with a sustainable outcome,” said Rhenu Bhuller, Partner & Senior Vice President, Transformation Health, Frost & Sullivan.

The first hospital accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards in Southeast Asia, Sunway Medical Centre is consistently working to ensure that its services are comprehensive and of international standard. Its new Cancer and Radiosurgery Centre and Nuclear Medicine Centre are slated to open in the second half of this year, bringing the latest in cancer treatment to patients in this region. Sunway Medical Centre is also committed to working with communities and organizations to improve healthcare services beyond its campus, winning the Best Healthcare Provider Award at the HR Vendors of the Year Awards last year. The hospital will also be building a molecular lab, in a step towards collaborating with world-class universities such as Cambridge and Oxford to pursue cutting-edge approaches in areas such as precision medicine.
