At a Hari Raya gathering at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa recently, Sunway Group donated RM100,000 to the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF), Selangor Chapter.
Sunway Group Founder and Chairman, YBhg Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah AO presented the cheque to YDH SR DCP Dato’ Abdul Samah B Mat, Deputy Chairman I of the MCPF, Selangor Chapter and Selangor Chief of Police. The handover was witnessed by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector- General of Police, Malaysia.
The contribution will assist the MCPF, Selangor Chapter to organise sustainable crime prevention education and awareness activities throughout the community including secondary students, undergraduates from public and private universities and recidivists who have been involved in drug-related crime activities.
On 15 November 2001, Sunway Group partnered with the Royal Malaysian Police, MCPF, Selangor Chapter and the State of Selangor to launch initiatives to reduce crime in Selangor. Sunway City (SC) has been given Safe City or Bandar Selamat status since then. It was the first Safe City in Selangor to earn this accolade. Sunway constructed the Sunway Pondok Polis which eventually amounted to RM1 million, and sponsored two units of vans serving as mobile police stations valued at RM280, 000 to bolster security and strengthen community safety within Bandar Sunway.
