On 15 November 2001, Sunway Group partnered with the Royal Malaysian Police, MCPF, Selangor Chapter and the State of Selangor to launch initiatives to reduce crime in Selangor. Sunway Resort City (SRC) has been given Safe City or Bandar Selamat status since then. It was the first Safe City in Selangor to earn this accolade. Sunway constructed the Sunway Pondok Polis which eventually amounted to RM1 million, and sponsored two units of vans serving as mobile police stations valued at RM280, 000 to bolster security and strengthen community safety within Bandar Sunway.

In 2013, Sunway built the Selangor MCPF website, a one-stop digital platform with convenient access to useful crime prevention information and tips. The Sunway security force today boasts a total of 800 personnel, of whom 350 are Auxiliary Police who have completed intensive training at the Malaysian Police Training Centre. By far, Sunway has one of the largest contingents of auxiliary police in the country.
