Sunway Medical Centre

Sunway Medical Centre is an Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) accredited private hospital and remains the flagship entity in the healthcare division of Sunway Group. It is also the first hospital in Malaysia to perform Deep Brain Stimulation for patients with Parkinson’s disease and the first private teaching hospital in Malaysia to commence the Cochlear Implant programme for patient with profound hearing loss.

Since its inception in November 1999, Sunway Medical has grown exponentially into one of the foremost private medical care centres in Malaysia with 373 beds, 130 consultation suites, 12 operating theatres and a multi-storey car park with 700 parking bays.

In line with its vision to be one of the leading medical centres in the ASEAN region and in response to the increasing demand for quality healthcare services in Malaysia, Sunway’s healthcare division is building a new Centre for Advanced Medicine to complement the facilities and services in the existing medical centre, Sunway Medical Centre.

This 10-storey building is located next to the existing hospital building, and will make Sunway Medical Centre one of the region’s largest private hospitals, with a total of about 600 beds (1,100 beds after future expansions), 170 consultation suites and 1,470 parking bays. The new tower will consist of services and Centres of Excellence namely the Nuclear Medicine Centre, Cancer Centre, Breast Care Centre, Digestive Health Centre and Dialysis Centre.

Sunway Medical Centre offers a comprehensive range of medical services including facilities and advanced medical technologies for outpatient and inpatient specialty care, health and wellness programmes, and 24-hour emergency services. These are supported by over 1,400 dedicated personnel including medical consultants, professional allied health staff as well as trained and dedicated nursing staff.

Sunway Medical Centre is the first hospital in Malaysia to perform the Deep Brain Stimulation for treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The Cochlear Implant Programme implemented in 2004 for the treatment of profound hearing loss, formed another milestone in Sunway Medical Centre’s quest to provide integrated, multi-disciplinary care for the patients.

Sunway Medical Centre is affiliated with the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, providing a base of clinical attachment and training to students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Nursing and Allied Health programmes.
