In the spirit of unity, compassion and giving, Sunway Group brought its signature Sinar Raya festive cheer initiative to students, teachers and school staff at SK Ladang Pendas in Johor Bahru.

Organised under the #SunwayforGood umbrella, this Sinar Raya celebration is part of Sunway’s ongoing efforts to uplift underserved communities nationwide, which has positively impacted some 17,000 beneficiaries this year through distributions of bubur lambuk, buka puasa packed meals, essential groceries and food baskets.

The ‘Back to School’ event at SK Ladang Pendas saw over 100 students receiving essential school supplies including new school uniforms and shoes, helping to ease financial burden on their families.

In addition, Sunway also contributed a 75-inch smart TV and the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation sponsored a fully furnished ICT lab, including 22 Apple MacBook Air laptops, for the ICT Literacy Programme at SK Ladang Pendas.

The ICT Literacy Programme is designed in collaboration with Sunway University and Pertubuhan Titian Digital Malaysia to equip students with essential ICT skills, ranging from basic computer use to graphic design, and even coding and robotics.

The Raya meal was graced by Johor Bahru Education Office School Management Unit deputy director En. Suliman bin Kamsor and Sunway City Iskandar Puteri chief executive officer Gerard Soosay, alongside Sunway volunteers from various business divisions, Johor’s district education officers, NGO partners, and SK Ladang Pendas staff.
