Sunway City Ipoh (SCI) is the largest integrated township in Malaysia’s state of Perak, spanning approximately 1,350 acres with a GDV of about RM2 billion. It was conceived in 1996 and is driven by Sunway as the catalyst of growth for the Eastern Development Corridor of Ipoh.
One of the key elements of SCI’s master plan was to work around the area’s natural terrains. SCI is strategically located in the midst of tropical greenery and majestic 260-million-year-old limestone hills. It has also retained 120,000 trees in the township. Thus, we have taken steps to preserve the natural environment, such as the hills, caves and lakes, which also serve as water retention ponds, in our bid to develop sustainable townships aligned with the UN-SDG.
SCI is also easily reachable via direct flights to Ipoh from Singapore and Johor Bahru, and more in the future. Frequent Electric Train Service (ETS) has helped public mobility between Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Padang Besar.
SCI also houses the award-winning theme park Sunway Lost World of Tambun and the luxurious Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat. The township receives an annual average of 1.5 million visits from all over the world. It is also a winner of the FIABCI Malaysia Property Award for the Best Master Plan Township in 2010.
