  • Sunway has adopted SMK St Mary and helped in the design and construction of the school’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts Centre through Deco Style and Sunway Construction.

SMK St Mary of Kuala Lumpur recently launched a Hospitality and Culinary Arts Centre for their secondary school students, naming it after the late Tan Sri Saleha Mohd Ali, an alumnus of the school and a strong advocate of welfare and charity in the country.

The Centre, a first of its kind to be housed within a Malaysian government school, is equipped with a kitchen, patisserie, hospitality suite, indoor dining hall and al-fresco dining space.

In conjunction with the launch, Sunway Group adopted SMK St Mary and contributed RM500,000 to the design and construction of the centre’s cafeteria, reception and suite; as well as cooking appliances and a Liquefied Petroleum Gas connection to the kitchen.

Besides imparting practical life skills, the centre hopes to provide a well-rounded education to students and an alternative to traditional academic subjects.

Other schools adopted by Sunway include SK Bandar Sunway; SMK Bandar Sunway; SJK(C) Chee Wen, Subang; SK Convent Klang; SJK(C) Gunung Hijau, Pusing, in Perak; and SMJK(C) Yuk Choy in Perak.
