  • Sunway Group and iM4U fm’s collaboration for the Fabrik Kasih welfare programme hits two-year mark.
  • Event is organised annually in conjunction with Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri and benefited nine homes across three different locations, Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Penang.
  • Among the designers involved include Fuzana Mokhtaza, Tengku Syahmi, and Zakwan Anuar.

Marrying the talent of budding fashion designers with the needs of the underserved, the unique iM4U fm Fabrik Kasih bersama Sunway 2017 initiative turned three this year, with Sunway on board for the second year running.

Organised annually in conjunction with Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Fabrik Kasih programme looks to spread joy during the festive season via a mentorship initiative involving local fashion designers who coach fashion design students from GIATMARA Malaysia and Kolej Vokasional on tailoring a Hari Raya collection for the beneficiaries.

To mark its 3rd anniversary, this year’s Fabrik Kasih involved 3 designers — Fuzana Mokhtaza, Tengku Syahmi and Zakwan Anuar — and benefitted nine homes across 3 different locations – Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Penang.

Following a month of measurement and fitting sessions in May, a Gala Night was held at each of the three locations, with the recipients from children’s homes, old folks’ homes and autism centres participating in a fashion show to showcase their new Raya outfits.

This year, Sunway Property and Sunway Construction also conducted home refurbishment works at the beneficiaries’ homes, including painting, installation of awning, canopies and drainage, replacement and repair of old fixtures and leakages, servicing of air conditioners, garden maintenance and roofing works.

PKNS Real Estate Company sponsored textiles and accessories for the Hari Raya collection while the National Kidney Foundation organised a school outreach programme for the children.

As Fabrik Kasih has grown in size and scope, from one location to three locations this year, we have been able to create an even greater impact on our communities across the nation. Sunway is glad to have been part of this meaningful initiative that has benefitted many through the spirit of volunteerism and compassion in the holy month of Ramadhan. – LAU BENG LONG, Managing Director, Sunway Group, Healthcare Services –
