  • Sunway to boost tourism sector with more attractive staycation packages across Sunway Velocity, Sunway Putra, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Lost World of Tambun.

Now that interstate travel within Malaysia has resumed, Malaysians will be able to take advantage of the personal income tax relief of up to RM1,000 on expenditure related to domestic tourism, a perfect reason to travel and discover Malaysia!

The claim period for income tax relief of RM1,000 incurred on domestic travelling expenses has been extended to 31 December 2021.

Also announced as part of the National Economic Recovery Plan by the Government of Malaysia in June 2020, service tax exemption on accommodation and related services has been extended to 30 June 2021. Hotel rates are now inclusive of 0% service tax.

Additionally, exemption of Tourism Tax will be given to all foreign tourists staying at any accommodation premises in Malaysia until 30 June 2021.

This year, the losses of the local tourism sector are estimated at RM45 billion after the closure of the borders.

In an effort to further boost the tourism sector, Sunway continues to launch attractive tourism packages across tourist destinations, a welcomed relief for some after a prolonged period of inactivity due to the MCO and CMCO.
