~ Be part of the world’s largest grassroots movement for climate change action, Earth Hour 2018, through Music Fest, Earth Walk and more exciting activities
Sunway City, March 14, 2018 ~ Sunway Group is inviting all Malaysians to be part of Earth Hour, the world’s largest grassroots movement for climate change action, in Sunway’s many locations around Malaysia this 24 March.
With the aim to inspire millions of people around the world to take action for the planet and nature, WWF’s Earth Hour is an annual environmental campaign that creates awareness for climate change by asking people to switch off lights at homes and businesses for an hour starting 8.30pm.
In Klang Valley, Sunway Lagoon will be hosting the Earth Hour Blackout Fest. Starting at 7.30pm, the Blackout Fest will feature live music performances in the dark, featuring The Impatient Sisters, V5 and RazQa. Food, drinks and fun activities, including a finale show “Tale of Mount Berapi”, have been lined up throughout the evening. In relation to the festival, Sunway Property has organised a writing contest on ‘how to celebrate Earth Hour moments’ in March for its property owners and residents to win tickets to the Earth Hour Blackout Fest. In addition, the residents are also encouraged to take part in Earth Hour by switching off all non-essential lights for an hour beginning 8.30pm on Saturday, 24 March.
Watch the flag off for the Earth Hour Walk 2018 in Sunway Giza Mall in Sunway Damansara. Themed #Connect2Earth, the Earth Hour Walk 2018 has attracted 1,500 participants, and will raise funds for WWF-Malaysia’s conservation efforts. The flag off for Earth Hour Walk 2018 will be taking place at North Boulevard on Saturday, 24 March 2018, beginning 7.00pm.
Around the Klang Valley region, Sunway Education Group’s campuses, Monash University Malaysia, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway Pyramid Hotel, Sunway Clio Hotel, Sunway Putra Hotel, and Sunway Velocity Hotel will be switching off all non-essential lights for 60 minutes on Saturday, 24 March beginning 8.30pm to encourage all to show their support for the planet during Earth Hour.
In Ipoh, Perak, the The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat will be turning off its non-essential lights.
In Penang, Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya will be conducting an Earth Hour Awareness Raising programme through candle light activities and Q&A sessions taking place in the respective hotel lobbies.
Each guest room in Sunway Hotel Georgetown, Penang and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya will be provided with glow sticks for Earth Hour celebrations.
