As part of its commitment to the residents of Bandar Sunway, two free shuttle buses have been introduced to improve passenger service and satisfaction within the community.
Available from 7.00am to 10.00pm daily, the service has solved some of the transport woes and more significantly cost savings for the residents. The biggest benefit has been to the students of Sunway University College and Monash University Malaysia, who previously would have paid between RM20 to RM40 a month on bus and taxi fares. Currently more than 300 people utilize this service daily, 70% of which are students.
Sunway has invested a significant amount of money on the shuttle busses so that the residents enjoy the benefits of the free service, save money on petrol and taxis. Total amount spent on the shuttle buses, construction of the 3 bus stops, the maintenance and salaries of the bus drivers works out to more than RM1 million. The bus drivers are also required to render assistance to senior citizens and mothers with baby strollers to get onto the bus.
Other than ensuring trouble-free transport within Bandar Sunway, the shuttle bus service is also aimed at reducing air pollution as fewer cars will be used at one time.
