Sunway Recognised by the FTSE4Good Index Series

Following the second FTSE4Good Index and FTSE ESG Ratings reviews in June 2015, Sunway Berhad continues to successfully meet the inclusion criteria and remains a valued member of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Sunway Construction Group Berhad, upon its successful listing on Bursa Malaysia on 28 July 2015, has also been included in the index.

This certification by UK-based FTSE Group, one of the best known indices in the world for socially responsible investment communities, is an outstanding testament to both the entities’ commitment to balancing profitability and sustainability.

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) practices measured against globally recognised standards. The index is a leading indicator used by investors who place importance on corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

To be included in the index, companies must demonstrate they are working toward the highest standards across the ESG pillars, which are divided into 14 themes.

The themes include a company’s approach to climate change, water use, biodiversity, pollution and resources, environmental supply chain, health and safety, labour standards, human rights and community indicators, customer responsibility, social supply chain, anti-corruption, tax transparency, risk management and corporate governance covering a total of 350 ESG-related indicators.

Sunway Berhad and Sunway Construction Group Berhad are also among a select number of stocks included in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index. Companies evaluated for inclusion are screened in accordance with well-defined ESG criteria.
